PTE Exam Registration Process: A Step-by-Step Guide

PTE Academic test is designed to test a student's English reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. It is a 3-hour long computer-based test.

Here is how you can register for the PTE Exam:

Step 1: Register on the official PTE Academic website or log in to an existing account.

Step 2: You will need to enter all the details asked in the form, including your:

    • personal details (as they appear on the passport),
    • exam history,
    • previous score reports (if you have taken the exam earlier),
    • which test you would like to take (PTE Academic or PTE General), and
    • any other details that could be useful in university admissions.

Step 3: Select the test centre where you want to take the exam by location.

Step 4: Book one of the available PTE exam dates and slots according to your convenience.

Step 5: Review the order and confirm all the details, such as:

    • Type of PTE examination you want to take,
    • Duration of the exam,
    • Test centre,
    • Exam appointment date, and
    • Exam fee (along with the taxes).

At this stage, you can change your test centre and reschedule the PTE exam without any extra charges.

Step 6: Pay for the exam and take a printout of the acknowledgement receipt. You may also access your account details at any time through the dashboard.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

    • How to register for the PTE Academic At Home exam?

At present, the at-home exam version is not available. We will update the info here if there’s an update on the exam.

    • Can I take the PTE Academic exam this year?

The PTE exam is conducted throughout the year. The test-taking ability of your chosen test centre might be reduced due to the COVID-19 crisis. But you can check available PTE exam dates and slots while booking for the test.

    • What is a good PTE score?

The ‘good’ PTE score depends on the university or country you are targeting. You need to score more than the English exam cut-offs they mention. But scoring high marks in the PTE exam increases your chances of getting accepted by the university (and the visa program). It also increases your chances of getting accepted for scholarships you apply for.

    • I have good English communication skills. Do I need to study for the PTE Academic test?

We recommend you to opt for Visa2Immigration PTE English practice tests. If you perform well, you may be ready to take the test directly. But if you do not score well, our PTE preparatory tutorials can help you understand the exam format, pattern, and tips to boost your scores.

    • Do you need a passport to register for the PTE Academic exam?

A valid passport is the primary ID candidates have to present during the PTE exam registration process. Your name, photograph, and signature are assessed with your passport details.

    1. Which English test is easier: IELTS or PTE Academic?

Both the exams are at par with each other when it comes to checking English proficiency. You should opt for the one you are more comfortable with.
